What Did You Do on Your Lunch Today? A WFH Lunchtime Confession
Ah, lunchtime—everyone’s favorite midday break. For some, it’s a chance to escape the office, grab a bite, or take a stroll to reset. For me, working from home has put a whole new spin on this daily reprieve.
Today’s "lunch" break? Painting the utility room. Yep, you read that right! A touch of decorating madness struck, and I figured, why not? (Spoiler alert: I may have regretted it halfway through…)
Now, when I say I’m “lucky” to work from home, I know opinions differ. For some, “lucky” would mean sipping wine with coworkers at a chic café in the city or browsing the shops for a little midday retail therapy.
But for me, WFH bliss is the freedom to sneak in life’s little tasks, from throwing in a load of laundry to finally putting clean bedding on (yes, the small joys are real!).
Working from home means I get to skip the stress of arranging childcare during school holidays and can look after the kids when they’re under the weather without scrambling for backup plans. Plus, I can squeeze in home workouts or a bit of cleaning here and there—nothing like a quick vacuum session to refresh the mind, right?
And then, of course, on days like today, there's a touch of DIY in the mix.
So, while some are lucky to spend lunch hours chatting over lattes, I’m content with my paintbrush in hand, ticking off those little “home” to-dos that make life just a bit easier.
How about you? How do you spend your lunch break?
